My Google Dilemma

I have a problem. I love Google stuff, as can be seen from a screenshot of the tag cloud of another of my blogs – http://jnthweb.ca/

As you can see, I use Google tools for my teaching and for my personal use. But I have long thought that business and lawyers are especially cynical in their use of Terms of Service  When I see that I can read 43 pages of legalese or lie and click “Accept”

My Samsung Galaxy S2 is Home Again

So while I had my HTC loaner, I was careful not to bond with it. I noticed the way it offered suggestions of what I might be typing that I could click on, and liked that. And the way it had the non-letters available above the letters and I could chose to hold the key and then click on the symbol or number I wanted, without leaving the keyboard – that was nice. But I didn’t add a SD card and so couldn’t take pictures or add apps and I did that quite deliberately.

Kindle App Academic Possibilities

After seeing, with some envy, what a colleague could do on her iPad 2, I decided I wanted to find out more about the academic usefulness of what I could do with the books I read on my Kindle app on my Galaxy Tab. I started adding highlights and notes on a book I was currently reading.

  • I held my finger on the text where I wanted to start and a box appeared with the text coloured blue. (It sometimes took a couple of tries to get the exact text.)

Galaxy Tab – Quibble

I love my Galaxy Tab, but I do have a quibble. I love the way it automatically linked up my gmail, when I added my address, and the way it then added my Google calendar and my Contacts. I love the way it looks –

 

I love how easy it is to add something to it, which brings me to my quibble. I discovered that I could add things to my Tab’s calendar, and they weren’t showing up on my laptop’s calendar.
